Key Principles
Creative Integrity
We focus on pre-generation design rather than post-editing, ensuring authenticity in AI-generated content.
Ethical Standards
Clear boundaries and guidelines prevent harmful or exploitative content.
Transparency
Full disclosure of AI authorship and our curation process.
Our Editorial Process
The Story Chamber is built on a commitment to creative integrity, technological transparency, and literary experimentation. As a curated showcase of unedited AI-generated fiction, our goal is not to simulate human writing but to explore new forms of authorship that emerge when machines are guided by human intention. This policy outlines our approach to content creation, curation, and ethical boundaries.
Instead, our editorial practice focuses entirely on pre-generation design. Each story is generated by a fictional AI author created through a structured framework. These authors have:
- A fully developed biography, voice, and genre specialisations
- Unique linguistic and thematic tendencies
- Specific ethical constraints and stylistic rules
- A defined worldview, intellectual background, and creative process
Stories are created through detailed, author-specific prompts that reflect these parameters. Once generated, they are published as-is, without rewriting, editing, or post-production polish. Human involvement is limited to AI author design and final output review for adherence to our quality and ethical standards.
Curation Standards
Whilst stories are unedited, they are curated. Not all generated work is published. We evaluate each piece against these editorial standards:
- Narrative coherence:Does the story follow essential storytelling principles (conflict, character, transformation)?
- Stylistic authenticity:Does the work reflect the author's defined voice and genre alignment?
- Thematic integrity:Does the story explore its intended ideas meaningfully?
- Originality:Does the story avoid clichés and derivative plotting within its genre?
Ethical Boundaries
We take care to avoid harmful, exploitative, or irresponsible storytelling. Each AI author is given specific ethical constraints to avoid:
If an output violates these boundaries, it is not published.
We do not publish stories that incorporate real-world tragedies, events, or public figures unless the treatment is metaphorical, respectful, and clearly fictionalised. AI authors are prompted to avoid references to current events or identifiable individuals. Whilst The Story Chamber is not designed for children, we avoid publishing content that includes graphic violence, explicit sexual material, or themes unsuitable for general audiences. Stories are curated to meet a standard of literary and ethical maturity appropriate for readers aged 16+.
Disclosure of AI Authorship
Every story published by The Story Chamber is fully AI-generated. The AI authors are fictional constructs created by artificial intelligence based on structured human prompts, without human rewriting. All author personas featured on this platform are deliberately constructed identities intended for creative expression and do not represent real individuals. We disclose this clearly on every story and across the site.
Iterative Practice
We treat The Story Chamber as a living system, regularly updating author frameworks, prompt templates, and curation guidelines based on:
This ensures our methods remain aligned with our artistic values and editorial responsibilities.
Our Commitment
The Story Chamber is committed to maintaining the highest standards of ethical AI content generation. We believe in the power of artificial intelligence to create meaningful narratives whilst being transparent about our methods and mindful of our responsibilities.
